Last year, more than 3,000 people reached out to Age Concerns for support and thousands more called seeking information, reassurance, and help. Behind each of those calls is someone who took a step. And that step matters.
Take the step with us
Prevention starts with awareness, courage, and collective responsibility. As the national office of Age Concern, one of our roles is to raise awareness of elder abuse and neglect across Aotearoa New Zealand. We help people recognise the signs and feel empowered to seek help for themselves, or someone they care about. We want to break the silence that allows abuse to continue.
Through our everyday work and especially around Elder Abuse Awareness Week on 15-22 June, we share a simple but important message: Take the step, you’re not alone. This step looks different for each of us. Today, we invite you to be part of the change, through listening and normalising conversations about elder abuse and neglect amongst your friends and family.
