Our board and team

Liz is the Board Chair for Age Concern Southland, a Barrister and Solicitor, Mediator, parkrunner, and a passionate advocate for a better later life for older people in our community.

She believes that finding something meaningful to pour your time and energy into is one of life’s greatest gifts – and she’s found exactly that through her work with clients and community alike.

Her practice spans alternative dispute resolution, advocacy, estate planning, and community development, all grounded in her belief in the theory of critical hope.

In 2025, Liz was awarded the King’s Service Medal (KSM) in recognition of her services to community and sport.

Christina is the current Chair of Age Concern Palmerston North and Districts.

Trained as a Medical Technologist in Microbiology, she has always had a keen interest in health. After many years of self-employment, Christina worked with Red Cross and St John before moving into elder health, where she managed a Retirement Village in Palmerston North.

Elected to the Age Concern New Zealand Board in 2022, Christina’s focus is supporting local Age Concerns and the vital work they do for older people in communities across Aotearoa.

Robert is a Professor in Marketing at the University of Otago’s Business School. He first became involved with Age Concern in 2007 when he was co-opted to the national board for a two year term to develop a new brand position for the organisation. In 2010 he was elected to Age Concern Otago’s board and has served as Chair since March 2013. He is excited he can again put in his energy and contribute his experience at national level.

Annette is Tainui / Te Arawa descent, a retired registered nurse, and her passion is advocating for hauora Māori.

She brings her broad knowledge and ‘lived’ experience of the older person to Age Concern New Zealand as a Board member. Annette is also a member of the Rāpaki Māori Women’s Welfare League, supports Tapuhi Mana Tū (Māori Nurses and Midwives of Ōtautahi/Te Tai Poutini), marks in Year 2 nursing degree for Ara, and is Kaiarahi of a Kaumātua Day Programme, along with other small roles.

Annette’s whānau is made up of three grown tamariki, eight moko and two moko tuarua. She lives in Te Waipounamu on Banks Penninsula and brings valuable experience in the age care sector to Age Concern New Zealand. 

Dale is on the Board of Age Concern Hawkes Bay and is also involved in community action with her local Women’s Centre as well as Te Whatu Ora mental health services. She has a particular interest in the challenges faced by older people living solely on super, with the rising cost of living and the current housing crisis.

Meredith is the current Chair of Age Concern Waikato and was elected to the ACNZ Board in 2025.  She trained as a social worker and has strong leadership experience in service delivery and national policy development. 

Her subsequent role as a management consultant gave Meredith the opportunity to work in many organisations on a wide range of projects. 

Like many of us, Meredith worked hard to ensure her parents were able to enjoy their older years and navigated many challenges on their behalf.  She is pleased to be able to bring her skills and experience to ACNZ and to work on behalf of older people in Aotearoa.

Kathy is a passionate advocate for older people across Aotearoa New Zealand and is dedicated to ensuring equity for older people. She is currently a member of Auckland Age Concern Trust Board and has a strong leadership background.

Kathy is highly respected for her strong networking skills, having established valuable connections across all sectors of aged care in New Zealand, including the community, marae, and aged care facilities. Her extensive network are reflected in the numerous professional and governance roles she has been appointed to.
