What is health promotion and what do I do?
Health promotion is an empowering and creative space to change lives. It provides people with the knowledge, skills and opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing. Age Concern offers health promotion activities on a wide variety of health and wellbeing topics including physical activity, injury prevention, nutrition, digital technology, mental wellbeing, social connection and housing. I offer inspiration and support to local Age Concerns for effective, successful and relevant health promotion delivery to older adults in Aotearoa.
Goals in my role:
Health promotion is an effective way to prevent poor health and it is proven to enable people to live healthier for longer. Therefore, my ultimate goal as Health Promotion Advisor at Age Concern New Zealand is to improve the health and wellbeing of older adults living in Aotearoa. Achieving my goal would enable older people to live with independence, interdependence, dignity and respect. I support local Age Concerns and work with broader networks to achieve strong health promotion delivery nationwide and to make a positive difference to the lives of older people.
