Keiko Oda is a registered nurse with over eight years’ experience in geriatric nursing. She completed a Masters in Health Science that included research on oral care in hospitals, and has recently started PhD research at the University of Auckland to establish the effects of oral care on the health of older adults.  Keiko’s talk will share the idea that oral care is a key intervention to prevent deconditioning among hospitalised older adults. The talk will be successful if the audience can see the potential of oral care to protect the dignity and wellness of care-dependent older adults, and are motivated to promote inter-professional collaborations that improve oral care delivery.
