My name is Colin McGregor and I’m the Director, Adult and Community Education (ACE) Aotearoa and I will be talking about the importance of Lifelong Learning especially for the older learner. I have spent most of my career in the Public Service in education related activities including three and a half years as Private Secretary to the Associate Minister of Education in Parliament before accepting the role of Director, ACE Aotearoa. ACE Aotearoa is a charity and the lead agency for the Adult and Community Education sector. Our members include the schools that provide night classes, community houses and other organisations that offer community-based learning for adults. We promote the value of lifelong learning and support our members through advocacy, resources and professional development. I’m excited to be part of the Age Concerns Everyone conference as I have a strong belief in the value that older people bring to society.
