Caroline has worked with Age Concern Nelson Tasman for four years in a wide-ranging role covering fundraising, community engagement and more recently helping establish AgeConnect Nelson Tasman. She has a background in journalism and publishing and views her move into the charity sector as the best move of her career. She’s now passionate about improving the lives of older people, particularly around social inclusion and connectedness.
Caroline will be talking about the journey of AgeConnect Nelson Tasman – how a spark of a conversation led to great community connections, a new project and eventually a staff member solely looking at how Age Concern can help reduce social isolation and loneliness in older people across the region. It aims to encourage community wraparound, promote intergenerational connections and explore how we can break down the barriers to older people being more connected.
She’s excited about the Age Concerns Everyone and its range of speakers covering diverse topics and issues, and is particularly pleased to see Social Connection and Loneliness as one of the key themes.
