Colin James is a political journalist of more than 40 years’ experience who has just recently stopped writing weekly columns.
He is a senior associate of the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies, Victoria University of Wellington, from which university he has an honorary doctorate.
He has published seven books – the latest, Unquiet Time, was published in August 2017 and reprinted in November 2017 – has edited several others, has contributed chapters to many books and papers to many conferences and does briefings on politics and policy to business, government agencies and other organisations.
Colin is also a fellow of the Institute of Public Administration and a life member of the New Zealand Parliamentary Press Gallery and the E Tu Union.
He is a former managing director of the Hugo Group and chair of Motu Economic and Public Policy Research.
